Build Project Manager
  • Liz Orejel

With degrees in international studies and Spanish and extensive project management experience in the construction industry, Liz brings a unique background and skillset that’s invaluable to our design build team. Her enthusiasm for this work, her kindness, and her organization and attention to detail help ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget, and that customers are happy.

“I believe that there are transferable skills in everything,” she says. “One of the things I love about working in the construction industry is the wide range of things I get to learn about—from the technical side to the labor piece to the community and human aspect of buildings.”

Liz grew up in Southern California in a loving and supportive family, a proud daughter of Mexican immigrant parents whom inspired her to work hard and told her she could do anything she set out to do. Growing up with three older brothers helped her develop a tough skin, which has helped her excel in an industry dominated by men. “My mom always told me, ‘Things are going to be harder for you’ but she helped me learn that everything has a solution and how to overcome obstacles that she also faced in life.”

Liz says she was attracted to Green Hammer’s mission and its people. When job seeking, her top priority was working for a small company that provided a supportive environment for staff. “I definitely find that at Green Hammer, everyone is incredibly supportive and genuinely wants to help.” She says she takes pride in helping build infrastructure for her community, and finds it satisfying to work for a design build firm that's creating buildings meant to last more than a century and that are healthy for people and the planet.

Having moved to Portland from Southern California, Liz is grateful to live in a city with easy access to public transportation and the outdoors as well as a vibrant food and social culture. When she’s not working, she loves hiking with her husband/partner and dogs, picnicking and meeting new people.
