The Responsible Choice For Our Natural Forests
Established in 1993, the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)® is an international non-profit, multi-stakeholder organization dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. FSC is comprised of an economic, social and environmental chamber that includes the world’s most significant environmental non-profits. FSC provides independent certification and labeling of forest products starting at the forest level and continuing for each entity along the manufacturing and distribution supply chain, forming a complete chain of custody. This offers consumers worldwide the ability to choose sustainable products made by companies who voluntarily support socially and environmentally responsible forestry.
We are FSC Chain of Custody Certified
In the building industry FSC is the best choice we have to support the restoration of natural forests both regionally and globally. In 2009 Green Hammer became the first and only FSC Chain of Custody (COC) certified building firm in the nation. We are still the only building firm in the nation delivering FSC-COC certified buildings and building structures in the United States. Green Hammer is also a member of FSC and takes a seat alongside Greenpeace and the World Wildlife Fund at FSC’s international general assembly. We work with local suppliers, such as Sustainable Northwest Wood and Parr Lumber, to ensure the wood products we use come from sustainably managed forests.
Green Hammer has an ultimate goal to eventually use FSC-certified wood exclusively in the design and construction of all homes, additions and structures that we complete. In 2008 and 2013, Green Hammer received a Design & Build with FSC Award.
