Cowhorn Vineyard & Garden's Living Building Featured on KTVL

  • Cowhorn Living Building

After four years of hard work and dedication, Green Hammer and Cowhorn Vineyard & Garden are proud to announce that Cowhorn's tasting room and cold storage area have achieved Living Building Challenge certification from the International Living Future Institute. Cowhorn is the first commercial building in Oregon and the first winery to earn the rigorous green building certification, which is widely regarded as the most stringent in the world.

Mike Marut, a reporter from KTVL, News 10 in Ashland stopped by the vineyard in early May to interview Bill Steele, co-owner of Cowhorn, to get a look inside this healthy, net-zero energy and net-zero water building. "This building was not built in Portland, this building was not built in Napa, it was built here by us," Steele said. "I think that we, as a region, should take pride in the skills these [sub-contractors] brought to the table."
