Get Out the Vote

10.10.18 by the Green Hammer Team

There's a lot at stake this Election Day in Oregon. Numerous ballot measures place big decisions related to equality and the environment in the hands of voters. Green Hammer has not been shy about endorsing ballot measures that we believe are aligned with our core values. Consider voting with us this Election Day.

Vote YES on Measure 26-199, a regional bond to fund affordable housing for low-income families, seniors, veterans and people with disabilities.

Vote YES on Measure 102, a statewide measure that will lift the current ban on the ability of local governments to work with nonprofits and local businesses to build affordable housing with bond funding.

Vote YES on Measure 26-201, known as the Portland Clean Energy Initiative, which directs resources to Portlanders who are most impacted by rising energy costs and climate change, including low-income residents and people of color. Often referred to as "1% for the 1%," it would place a 1% surcharge on companies that have more than $1 billion in annual sales and put it toward clean energy projects and jobs.

Vote NO on Measure 105, which would eliminate Oregon’s existing “sanctuary” law. Passed 30 years ago, this law ensures that local police personnel, funds, equipment and facilities cannot be used to pursue and detain people based solely on suspicions about their immigration status.

Please raise awareness about these important ballot measures by talking to your neighbors, family, friends and coworkers. Then, please get out and vote!
