Rose Villa Named 2019 Client of the Year3.13.19
The Daily Journal of Commerce Newsmakers awards program honors the built environment’s most interesting and influential people, companies, and organizations of the past year. This year, we nominated Rose Villa for the Client of the Year category, and they were selected! Green Hammer recently completed The Oaks Zero Energy neighborhood at Rose Villa. The development on the Rose Villa senior housing campus includes 12 craftsman-style homes built to meet Passive House principles that support health and energy efficiency.
"Rose Villa is a true leader in the U.S. senior living market, fully embracing sustainability because it understands the long-term value—from an economic, human health, and environmental perspective," we wrote in our nomination. "From our very initial conversations with Vassar Byrd, Rose Villa’s CEO, the goal was set to build the most environmentally friendly project possible. This included saving the primary heritage oak tree on the property, reducing energy and carbon emissions to zero, conserving water, and incorporating non-toxic building materials.
In addition to Vassar’s enthusiasm and commitment to achieving Zero Energy, Rose Villa’s staff whole-heartedly embraced the goal and the collaboration with Green Hammer’s team to achieve it. While many facilities groups tend to shy away from changes or new systems, Rose Villa’s Director of Facility Operations, John Schallberger, and Director of Campus Development, Bob Judd, were actively engaged in learning about the new construction methods and building systems the Zero Energy goal would require. Additionally, their Senior Managing Director, Tina Moullet, and Transitions Manager, Sadie Bach, expertly guided the new residents in understanding the details of these new homes and created numerous opportunities for Green Hammer staff to engage with the new residents to answer questions about their homes and Zero Energy design and construction."
